A humble woman who prays:
That is me, to put it simply. No one fancy. No one famous. Just me. A simple woman who tries to follow the lead of Christ and to serve as Jesus Christ has shown us to serve God and others.

May Christ shine in you and from you!

Which items, practices and people strengthen you along your Christian journey?

Prayers, the Bible, A visual reminder to Listen to God, drinking plenty of water and my devotionals are just some of the treasures I surround myself with. What do you surround yourself with?

We all need encouragement and inspiration in our lives. This is some of mine. What are things that encourage or inspire you as Christians?

Which items, practices and people inspire and encourage your journey as a Christian?

Good morning! It is just about 5am, here in the western North Carolina mountains. I am sitting at my desk surrounded by the treasures that help start my day off the good way. My Bible, my devotional, my water, my cell phone…I know you are thinking cell phone? But I have some video devotionals that I receive encouragement and inspiration from. One of those is Our Daily Bread. A new video is sent to me every morning. Prayers, the Bible, A visual reminder to Listen to God, drinking plenty of water and my devotionals are just some of the treasures I surround myself with. What do you surround yourself with?

I have figured out in my decades of life that I am or I become what I surround myself with. God’s word tells us this over and over.

Jeremiah 3:15 ESV Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.

Proverbs 22:24-25 ESV Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man, lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.

1 Corinthians 15:33 ESV Do not be deceived: “Bad company ruins good morals.”

1 Thessalonians 5:11 ESV Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

The people that I spend the majority of time is of upmost importance in my journey. They, the items and information that we surround ourselves with determines what type of person we become.

I firmly believe, If we watch violence, mistreatment of others, and sexual promiscuity, then those will be the strongest areas of ourselves.

Grandfathers Guidance with Love.

One evening an old Cherokee told his grandson about a battle that goes on inside people.

He said, “My son, the battle is between two “wolves” inside us all.

One is Evil. It is anger, envy, jealousy, sorrow, regret, greed, arrogance, self-pity, guilt, resentment, inferiority, lies, false pride, superiority, and ego.

The other is good. It is joy, peace, love, hope, serenity, humility, kindness, benevolence, empathy, generosity, truth, compassion and faith.”

The grandson thought about it for a minute and then asked his grandfather: “Which wolf wins?”

The old Cherokee simply replied, “The one you feed.”

Let’s surround ourselves with good, Christian and uplifting things , habits, and people through out the day. We will become the person, our Lord has taught us to be.

Let us pray:

Dear Heavenly Father, Your word guides us to surround ourselves with the “Good” things in people and things. We are human and are impacted by what surrounds us. Please help us change things that are not good for our development and others. We need to be around people and situations that are not good for us but need our help. We know that we have to stay infused with goodness and mercy to stay strong in your call to us. We ask for your help as we try to change those areas in our lives. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
