Thanksgiving has been enjoyed. Our Family Christmas Cookie Party 2023 was a blast. Shopping is underway- well almost done. But in all of the activities of Holiday Season, life continues to happen. Birthdays occur, work demands may even increase during this time, babies are born, hospitalizations due to illness or injuries, and even deaths continue during this season.

Today I will be attending a Memorial for a wonderful friend who has passed. My heart and my prayers are with his beautiful widow, children and grandchildren.
We must recognize that happiness is not all that occurs during this time. Many of us are suffering due to illness, injuries, layoffs, divorces, broken relationships and other life impacting incidents. Others may be experiencing a “First” or “Second” or “Third” holiday without someone who has died and no longer with us, as a single person, without finances, or other situations.
We must also remember some of us experience sadness and depression during the holidays. The cause can be many reasons but the feelings and emotions are REAL! Watch after those who may experience these issues but do so with respect, compassion, and your prayers. For more info on holiday depression click here.
Let’s also stay in touch with those in our lives who are alone, hospitalized, in prisons, or in care facilities. Those friends need our care and time all during the year but the Holidays may increase the need to be remembered.
If possible, you may want to involve your children or family to visit nursing homes. Call a local nursing facility and speak to them. They will know who would really benefit from a visit.

Let’s plan today, how we can touch the life of others during these holiday times.
Let us pray…
Our Loving Lord, Please open our eyes, ears and hearts to recognize those who you send our way while you also place in our knowledge the solutions that we can provide during this holiday season and afterwards. We praise you and Thank you! Amen.
