Some people have the same age number but look, live and love differently. What makes the difference? Start that change today!
I ran into a friend that I have not seen in years. We enjoyed catching up and she mentioned that she is turning 85 on her next birthday. My first and final thought was No Way! No one would ever guess her age. She looks closer to 60!
My Mom was like that, no one could ever guess her age. When she was in the hospital right before she passed, we could guess when a new nurse had walked in. The nurse looked at mom and had that confused look on her face then proceed to look at the chart again. ” I am sorry. You don’t look your. I apologize. Good morning. ” My Mom was Great!
My Aunt has always seemed younger. Watched what she act. Stayed active in the community. Never dwelled on her age.

And then we see someone our age talking about being so old. And they seem older. They move slower, slouch in their posture, let themselves go! (In more ways than one.)
What do you think the difference is?
Perspective? I think that has a lot to do with it. But I believe there is more.
Last year my husband went through a long bout of medical issues and hospitalization. Yes it had a toll on his perspective, physical abilities and mannerisms. But it also had a huge impact on aging me. Many caregivers are affected due to rare sleep, sometimes catching a catnap in a chair, bad eating habits (Catch as Catch can), worry about your loved one, low exercise , and so on, and so on, and so on.
We have friends who went through that as well and the impact on them can be seen as well.
So what does this tell us? Our perspective is important but so is…

Taking care of ourselves:
Eating healthy foods
Good sleep routines
Drinking lots of water
Me time to relax and recoup
Personal hygiene
Participating in activities that you enjoy
Spending time with others
and yes that 4 letter word- EXERCISE. Which may mean physical therapy to build those muscles back up.
What do you do to keep yourself in top shape physically, emotionally and enjoying life to the hilt?
