The gift of Time

It is very difficult to visit everyone on your list during the holiday season. Your side, his side, the divorced parents, grandparents, those in nursing homes, family who live out of town, And if one parent has to work on the day or days? And what about starting your own family traditions? Where does that fit in? What is a family to do?

This has been an issue for most people/couples/families for all time. Even more so now that most people don’t live near each other.

So you do as much as you can this year while planning to visit the others next year or an earlier weekend or holiday.

Younger couples or families

If you are one of the younger generation, nicely remind your parents/family about when they started out as a couple or family. They probably had this same issue.

If you are the parents of grown children, reassure your children that you do remember what it was like and sometimes, it still is.

Be understanding , be loving and be patient. Do not take everything personally. You do want your children to be happy. And you want to have sometime with them even if it happens to be on facetime this year. They are doing the best that they can.

Money at Christmas– What is truly important?

Which takes me to another subject, remember when you didn’t have the money to buy the gifts that you wanted or buy gifts at all, when you first started out, had children to support, or due to layoffs, expenses or financial issues during the holidays. Or you may be experiencing one of those hard times now, due to living on a fixed income, Remind your grown children that the gifts are not the important part. Remember the reason for the season and the love you have for each other. You want to be with them. Time is a present! Those are the important things!

My Family Christmas

Due to issues this year, we are getting together today, Saturday December 23rd for our family Christmas Party. Some of our children have to travel to spend time with other families, my brother and his family could not come home for the holidays, Christmas Eve is on a Sunday so I have 2 services at church, so Christmas day will be a quiet day for my husband and myself. Sometime quiet holidays are lovely and peaceful.
