Do you have a poet that you love? What about more recent poets? Here are some of my favorites. Who are yours? Is it you?
My first taste of poetry was the following verse. Did you have to memorize this as a student too?

Robert Frost 1874-1963
Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening
Whose woods these are I think I know.
His house is in the village though;
He will not see me stopping here
To watch his woods fill up with snow.
My little horse must think it queer
To stop without a farmhouse near
Between the woods and frozen lake
The darkest evening of the year.
He gives his harness bells a shake
To ask if there is some mistake.
The only other sound’s the sweep.
of easy wind and downy flake.
The woods are lovely, dark and deep
But I have promises to keep,
And miles to go before I sleep
And miles to go before I sleep.
Or perhaps to touch the heart…

LOVE written by Elizabeth Barrett Browning
We cannot live, except thus mutually
We alternate, aware or unaware,
The reflex act of life: and when we bear
Our virtue onward most impulsively,
Most full of invocation, and to be
Most instantly compellant, certes, there
We live most life, whoever breathes most air
And counts his dying years by sun and sea.
But when a soul, by choice and conscience, doth
Throw out her full force on another soul,
The conscience and the concentration both
Make mere life, Love. For Life in perfect whole
And aim consummated, is Love in sooth,
As nature’s magnet-heat rounds pole with pole
A few of my current favorites

I love the work of Nancy Dillingham who lives here in Asheville NC. Her work to me is thought provoking about real life situations and others for lightness. Check out her talented work here.

The poetry from an online source causes my mind to race, my heart to soar and some times makes me stop and contemplate. Have you enjoyed the artistic work from Frank Solanki? Check it out here.

James Gay 20 Mar 1744–4 Feb. 1819 (My 5X gr grandfather)
I am a descendent of James Gay. Grandfather is said to have realized this God given talent later in his life. His “Collection” is the first substantial book of poetry written by a resident North Carolinian. It was published and I have a copy of this, one of the first books of poetry published in NC.
Your God Given Gifts
Do you write poetry? Are you the creative type? I can’t write but I love to “feel” the poetry as I partake of a verse of art.
Our talents are given from our father above. Do you possess this one? Are you aware of all of the talents that God has given you?
You are invited to take a deep breath and then release. Now let us join in prayer to our Loving God.
Lord, Please emphasis the talents that you gave each of us. A few we know of and use but others we have yet to see. Thank you. Amen
